AIAG Single User e-Document & Corporation Subscription Overview and FAQS
Please note that e-documents are not printable. E-documents can be viewed online or offline after downloading, but those purchased before February 2022 are “View Only” (i.e., available for online viewing only).
I purchased an e-Document. What's next?
- Sign on to your AIAG web account.
- Click “ My Account” and "e-Documents" on the left menu.
- To view a document, click "View Now." (Recommended browsers for viewing are Chrome & Edge).
To download your first e-document, please do the following:
- Download the Safeguard Viewer
- You will need to have admin rights to install the viewer. If you do not, please contact your IT department.
- Download and install your license.
- This license only needs to be installed once. Subsequent downloads do not require it to be installed again.
- Download and view your document.
- Please note that you must be connected to the internet the first time you access your downloaded e-documents.
Depending on the file size and your connection speed, e-documents may take a few minutes to load. All current versions of internet browsers are supported, however, we recommend using Chrome or Edge. To view a document, simply click "View Now." If you have access to free Core Tools e-documents, select the language to open the e-document.
What are the restrictions on how I can use my purchased e-document?
A single-user e-document license allows the end user unlimited viewing of the e-document. E-documents are not printable; if you require a printed version, please purchase a hardcopy.
AIAG e-documents are licensed to one end user account; please ensure the order is placed under the account of the actual end user. AIAG's e-documents are not transferable from one account to another account. If more than one user needs access to e-documents, select "Request Quote" above for pricing and terms.
I accidentally purchased the wrong e-document.

I’m unable to open my e-document.
AIAG e-documents can be opened by clicking the title on the e-documents page. The file should open in a new browser window.
Since there can be various reasons for a file not opening, please contact your internal IT support staff for assistance.
For additional troubleshooting on opening files, be sure to check our troubleshooting page troubleshooting tips.
When will access to my e-document(s) expire?
If you purchased your single-user e-document(s) before June 1, 2008, your access expired one year from the date of purchase. Access to single-user e-Documents purchased after June 1, 2008, will not expire.
Printing
If you purchased a single-user e-document before December 31, 2011, you can print two copies. Individual single-user e-documents purchased after December 31, 2011 cannot be printed. If you require a hardcopy of a document, please get in touch with AIAG's Customer Service at (248) 358-3003.
Can I print a secure PDF and make copies for others in my company or department?
No – unfortunately that would violate copyright. Documents may be shared or loaned, but not reproduced in any fashion. The copyright statement on AIAG documents reads:
"The contents of all published materials are copyrighted by the Automotive Industry Action Group unless otherwise indicated. AIAG preserves all rights, and content may not be altered or disseminated, published, or transferred in part of such content. The information is not to be sold in part or whole to anyone within your organization or to another company. Copyright infringement is a violation of federal law subject to criminal and civil penalties."
Why has AIAG opted to create secure PDFs with Digital Rights Management technology?
Managing access to documents based on copyright ownership and protecting content rights is imperative to developing and distributing technical documents and standards. Since many users don't know when they’re violating copyright laws, this technology protects both the user and publisher of technical information.
I purchased a document before February 12, 2014, downloaded the file, and can still view it. Will that change?
If you can currently view your file without issues, you will be able to continue viewing your downloaded file.
