The purpose and focus of AIAG’s Finished Vehicle Logistics (FVL) division has always revolved around creating ways to share best practices to help reduce costs and improve finished vehicle supply chain management processes for OEMs and their service providers. This has been accomplished through the collective and continued support of OEM volunteers, along with AIAG members from rail, truck, and ocean carriers, custom brokers, and terminal operating organizations.

Since the development of this division, significant strides have been made in improving processes while reducing complexities in the FVL supply chain. With continued efforts to improve processes for current and ongoing challenges in the FVL space, AIAG work groups have released three critical publications:

Former FVL Work Groups

Finished Vehicle Logistics Advisory Group

The Advisory Group was comprised of seasoned supply chain Finished Vehicle Logistics & Supply Chain Management leaders including automotive OEMs, vehicle transportation service providers (Ocean, Rail and Haul-Away), Marine Terminal managers, railroads, port authorities and port processors.

The group helped to raise awareness of the AIAG Finished Vehicle initiatives as well as present industry ‘pain points’ for development of AIAG work groups which created improved industry operating standards aimed to alleviate identified pain points.
